The exact meaning of an unusual honeymoon depends on your idea of one, whether that's the destination itself or the type of experience you want. You might still want to chill on a pristine beach but want a change of scenery to the likes of the Maldives or Mauritius. Fiji combines beautiful beaches with fascinating culture, while Oman boasts great beaches in an authentic Arabian setting.

If you're after something completely different, then we adore the idea of road tripping across the likes of New Zealand, Australia or California, or you can trek through the rainforest in search of mountain gorillas in Rwanda. In the Indian Ocean, Réunion is packed with adventure and in Africa, Botswana is a fantastic option for a safari that doesn't get the limelight that the likes of South Africa, Tanzania and Kenya do.
